Advanced Geospatial Analysis
Terrainworks uses its virtual watersheds technology to perform advanced analyses in support of the unique needs of clients in government, NGO and private sectors. We perform difficult analyses that often require building new analysis capabilities, not available elsewhere.

Example Analysis
Erosion and flooding in the Crystal River
Colorado. Crystal River Conservancy/U.S. Forest Service
NetMap was used to better understand erosion sources and the cause of persistent flooding in Redstone, Colorado. A series of tributary sediment sources converged and created a large standing wave of sediment where little relief between the channel and its floodplain led to common flooding.
Forest road - identifying optimal locations for new road drains
Northern California, Sierra Pacific Industries.
The analysis revealed how strategic placement of new road drainage structures can optimize reductions in hydrologic connectivity and sediment delivery.
READI predicts that only a small proportion of new drains and new surfacing results in the majority of sediment delivery reductions.
Mapping missing salmon streams
Matanuska-Susitna River watershed, Alaska, The Nature Conservancy.
NetMap was used to build a synthetic river network in the Mat-Su watershed (16 million acres) using LiDAR and IfSAR (1-5 m) DEMs to identify missing salmon streams in the Matanuska-Susitna River basin in Alaska. 25,000 additional miles of total streams were mapped. Mapped salmon streams increased by 300% to 1,000%.
